Time reveals all

Colours of blue and red and yellow begin to fade to shades of grey.
As if the receptors in your eyes have changed to accept only black and white.

I believe it's quite normal for us all, as fallible humans, to share a little icing to sweeten the cake that is us.

Sometimes, however, certain people tend to accompany their cake with too much icing or icing that just doesn't match - like chocolate icing on a savoury asparagus tart.
It just doesn't work well.

As time progresses, the process of revelation produces a stark contrast between a person's true self and the one that was portrayed.
The saturated colours representing the various facets of an individual slowly fade to washed-out colours.
Where someone's integrity was bright yellow, it now looks grey.
Honesty that was brilliant blue is... grey.
The beautifully coloured, vibrant amazon parrot now looks like a common dove.
Grey.

Certainly, we're all guilty of this to some extent - but it's the extent that matters.
We tend to portray an image of ourselves to others - something we think others would like.
Simply put, it's because we feel deep down that we're not good enough.
The truth is - we are. Perhaps not to all, and you will never be liked or loved by everyone.
However, our true self is all we actually have.

It's unsustainable to constantly portray chocolate icing, when you're really a baked cheese cake.

And over time, we get a true taste in that chocolate icing and think "Hmm.. funny... I can taste a hint of cheesecake in this icing.. It really doesn't go well ~ I must be imagining it..."
We learn, over Time, that this wolf is a sheep. This butterfly is a wasp.
The amazon green parrot you thought you knew is actually a crow.

There's much to be said about us also seeing only what we want in people.
However, overall, some of us are easily and frequently deceived.

All we can do is be honest with ourselves. The rest will follow.
Being afraid to reveal your true self and never doing so will lead to nothing but emptiness and superficial relations.

One day when the crows clad with blue and green feathers and a stick-on parrot beak are completely alone, without any true, meaningful relations, they will remove the fake feathers and fake beak and openly reveal their true selves, only to find that over time, they were actually hiding a majestic eagle.

The only true master of revelation is time.
And Time reveals all.
